Certification

Board certified - passed a 240 item cognitive examination and an 8 item performance examination and was awarded board certification by the Board of Forensic Document Examiners in 2004.


Education

Bachelor's Degree from the University of North Texas, Denton, TX.

Mentorship and training in the field of questioned document examination under Allan R. Keown, El Paso, TX, Forensic Document Examiner with over 30 years of experience and certified by Association of Forensic Document Examiners (testing required for certification).


Specialized Training and Continuing Education in Forensic Document Examination

Association of Forensic Document Examiners annual training includes classroom instruction, technical presentations and laboratory work by the State of Arizona Crime Lab, Puerto Rico Institute of Forensic Sciences, the McCrone Institute, and others in the practice of Document Examination and related forensic sciences, in the following (1997-2005):

  • identification of individual characteristics and pattern recognition techniques in handwriting

  • document photography procedures, including photomicrography

  • indented writing

  • typewriter, copier, and computer printer identification/classification

  • infrared luminescence and ultraviolet lighting techniques

  • production of demonstrative evidence

  • courtroom protocols

Instructional technical visits include:

  • Marquette University Law School - 1998

  • McCrone Institute - 2000

  • Ninth Circuit Supreme Court, Nevada - 2002

  • Rochester Institute of Technology - 2004
